Kata - Shushi No Kon Sho (Taira Shinken Version, by Sensei Demura)
  1. [n] Yoi.
  2. [n] Step back into right Zenkutsu Dach, Otoshi-Uchi (overhead strike).
  3. [n] Bring left foot up to right. Shiko Dachi, Tsuki-Otoshi (reverse downward thrust) followed by Tsuki-Komi (two handed thrust).
  4. [e] (fig. 21) Shift to right Gyaku Zenkutsu Dachi, Gedan-Uchi (low strike).
  5. [w] Pivot to left Zenkutsu Dachi, Uchi-Age (upward strike) to opponents groin.
  6. [e ] Pivot 180 degrees to right Zenkutsu Dachi, Morote-Uke (double handed block). Then Otoshi-Uchi (overhead strike), Yoko-Uke (inside to outside).
  7. [n] Shift weight to your left leg and pivot 90 degrees to the left. Slide right foot toward your left, then forward.  At the same time pull right hand back to right shoulder with left hand leading
  8. [n] Now shift your weight to your right foot and bring your left toward it, jump off both feet.  Simultaneously, execute Otoshi-Uchi.  While completeing this technique, keep your back straight, your feet and knees together, to help insure correct posture and smooth movement.  Step back with your left into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Yoko-Uke (inside to outside).
  9. [n] Slide your left foot forward into Heisoku Dachi.  Moving the bo in front of you, begin a clockwise rotation of the bo.  As it enters  a vertical position, your left hand uppermost, assume the Hajime position.  Keep your right arm straight and bring the bo down in front of your right arm and shoulder.  Hold your left arm, palm facing away from you, across your face.  Step back with your left foot into a right Zenkutsu Dachi.  Pushing forward and down with your left hand, backward and up with your right, raise the bo over your right shoulder, your left hand leading.  Now, as you shift your weight to your right foot and bring your left foot to it, jump off both feet.  Simultaneously, execute Otoshi-Uchi.  Step back with your left into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Yoko-Uke (inside to outside).
  10. [n] Slide your left foot forward into Heisoku Dachi.  Moving the bo in front of you, begin a clockwise rotation of the bo.  As it enters  a vertical position, your left hand uppermost, assume the Hajime position.  Keep your right arm straight and bring the bo down in front of your right arm and shoulder.  Hold your left arm, palm facing away from you, across your face.  Step back with your left foot into a right Zenkutsu Dachi.  Pushing forward and down with your left hand, backward and up with your right, raise the bo over your right shoulder, your left hand leading.  Now, as you shift your weight to your right foot and bring your left foot to it, jump off both feet.  Simultaneously, execute Otoshi-Uchi.  Step back with your left into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Yoko-Uke (inside to outside).
  11. [w] (fig. 57) Step forward to the left with left foot into Gyaku Zenkutsu Dachi, Osae-Uke (pinning manuever), Tsuki-Otoshi (low thrust). 
  12. [w] Pivot 180 degrees on your left foot into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tate-Uke (left hand uppermost).  Then execute Otoshi-Uchi, Gyaku-Age-Uchi (reverse upward upward strike), Otoshi-Uchi.
  13. [w] With your right hand, lower the front end of the bo and in a large circular movement, sweep it back on your outside right.  Simultaneously, push the other section forward and up with your left hand, Gyaku Naname-Uke, Otoshi-Uchi, Yoko-Uke.
  14. [e] (fig. 83) Pivot counterclockwise to left Gyaku Zenkutsu Dachi, Osae-Uke (pinning manuever), Tsuki-Otoshi (low thrust).
  15. [e] Pivot off the left foot while stepping into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tate-Uke (vertical block), Otoshi-Uchi (overhead strike), Gyaku Age-Uchi (reverse upward strike), Otoshi-Uchi.  With your right hand lower the front end of the bo in a large circular movement, sweep it back on your outside right.  Simultaneously, push the other section forward and up with your left hand, Gyaku Naname-Uke, Otoshi-Uchi, Yoko-Uke.
  16. [n] (fig. 106) Bring your left foot toward your right and turn your torso clockwise 90 degrees.  Then, pivoting clockwise slightly on your right foot, extend your left foot in a left Gyaku Zenkutsu Dachi.  At the same time Osae_uke (pinning manuever), Tsuki-Otoshi (low thrust).
  17. [n] Pivoting on your left foot, step into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tate-Uke (vertical block), Otoshi-Uchi (overhead strike), Nagashi-Zuki (sliding thrust), Yoko-Uke (inside to outside).
  18. [w] (fig. 125) Pivot 90 degrees and shift your weight to your left leg.  As you do, move backward by crossing your right foot over your left foot.  Step down on your right foot.  Position the bo horizontally on your left side with the right hand leading.  Yoko-Uke (inside to outside) in front of you (north).
  19. [n] Shift all your weight to your right foot and, raising your left foot before you, swing it up, out and around.  At the same time, use both hands to angle the bo over to your right side, your left hand uppermost and leading.  Keep your right foot in place and stamp down with your left into Kiba Dachi, Yoko-Uchi (side strike).
  20. [n] (fig. 132) Turn yourself clockwise 90 degrees into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Tate-Uke (vertical block), Otoshi-Uchi (overhead Strike), Nagashi-Zuki (sliding thrust), Yoko-Uke (inside to outside).
