Kata - Shushi No Kon
  1. [n] Step back left foot into right Zenkutsu Dachi, Otoshi-Uchi.
  2. [n] Left foot up into Shiko Dachi, Backwards thrust as foot lands, then Tsuki-Komi.
  3. [w] Pivot to the left (feet look like Teji Dachi, body looks like Zenkutsu Dachi), Morote-Uke, left hand uppermost. Note: Left hand remains in Jun Nigiri grip, right hand assumes Hasami Nigiri Grip. This hand positioning applies to all Morote-Uke blocks in this kata.
  4. [e] Pivot 180 degrees Morote-Uke, left hand uppermost.
  5. [e] Left end of bo rises, right hand to right shoulder. This is a feint. Continue the motion while executing Otoshi-Uchi. Lower stance slightly, Yoko-Uke.
  6. [w] (fig. 12) Pivot 180 degrees into Left Kokutsu Dachi, Osae-Uke (with left end of bo), Tsuki-Otoshi.
  7. [n] (fig. 15) Keep left foot in place as right foot steps forward into Zenkutsu Dachi, Left end of bo rises in a feint. In one continuous motion, bring left foot up to right, Heisoku Dachi. At the same time, execute Otoshi-Uchi with right end of Bo.
  8. [n] Keep left foot in place as right foot steps forward into Zenkutsu Dachi, Left end of bo rises in a feint. In one continuous motion, bring left foot up to right, Heisoku Dachi. At the same time, execute Otoshi-Uchi with right end of Bo.
  9. [n] Keep left foot in place as right foot steps forward into Zenkutsu Dachi, Left end of bo rises in a feint. In one continuous motion, bring left foot up to right, Heisoku Dachi. At the same time, execute Otoshi-Uchi with right end of Bo.
  10. [e] (fig. 21) Turn to right while stepping forward with right foot into Kosa Dachi, Morote-Uke.
  11. [e] Step back with left foot into Zenkutsu Dachi, Left end of bo rises in a feint. In one continuous motion, execute Otoshi-Uchi with right end of Bo, Yoko-Uke.
  12. [w] Pivot 180 degrees into Left Kokutsu Dachi, Osae-Uke (with left end of bo), Tsuki-Otoshi.
  13. [w] (fig. 28) Slide right foot across left into right Kosa Dachi, Morote-Uke.
  14. [w] Step back with right foot into Zenkutsu Dachi, Left end of bo rises in a feint. In one continuous motion, execute Otoshi-Uchi with right end of Bo (anchors to left hip), Yoko-Uke.
  15. [n] (fig. 32) Step back with left foot into Zenkutsu Dachi, Morote-Uke. Right foot moves back and left foot slides into right Kosa Dachi, Tate-Uke.
  16. [n] Left foot steps back into right Zenkutsu Dachi, hand position stays the same. Left end of bo rises in a feint. In one continuous motion, execute Otoshi-Uchi with right end of Bo, Yoko-Uke, Tsuki-Komi.
  17. [n] (fig. 39) Osae-Uke (to the front), flowing into next movement, step backwards right over left Kosa Dachi keeping upper body in the same position as previous move. (a more advanced level could substitute this step with a jump which would land you in Shiko Dachi).
  18. [w] When landing in Shiko Dachi, Chudan Yoko-Uchi.
  19. [n] Right foot is pulled back to left into Hajimae.
