Review Otoshi-Uchi , Tsuki-Komi , Yoko-Uke , Yoko-Uchi and Gyaku Yoko-Uchi as line drills. Review Combinations 1 2 , and 3 .
Morote-Uke, Sideways [K] (Double Handed Block)  Use the sideways Morote-Uke against Yoko-Uchi.
  1. To counter an attack from the left, shift back into a right Kokutsu Dachi.
  2. Simultaneously, move into a Hasami-Nigiri, left hand uppermost, and position the Bo vertically.
  3. As the blow approaches, block by sliding your Bo firmly to the left.
Practice Morote-Uke from Zenkutsu Dachi, Neko Ashi Dachi, and Kokutsu Dachi with both sides forward.

Nagashi-Zuki [K] (Nuki-Tsuki) (Sliding Thrust) Can be done as a line drill. Must switch lead hand by bringing Bo tip back to anchor shoulder while moving in. Slight outward twist with rear wrist while executing.

  1. Grasp Bo with Jun-Nigiri, right hand uppermost. Assume right Zenkutsu Dachi.
  2. Position the Bo on your left side, its right or upper end leading.
  3. With a smooth even movement of your left hand, slide it swiftly through your right hand and into your opponent's chin. Then before the Bo slides through completely, secure your grip and push farther into the target.
